Semester 1 Round up- The 1s

Semester 1 Round up- The 1s

Excitement and nerves were definitely in place as the first team started their first ever season in the BUCS Premiership. With a lot of last year’s team graduating, trials proved crucial in securing some great new players as well as some girls moving up from the 2s to earn their spot in our performance team.

To start the year off the girls were straight into a very tough game against Loughborough. This first defeat proved a new and valuable experience to the girls as they realised the realities of the top level of BUCS. Throughout the season, they built on this by a narrow loss against Stirling and continued to fight until they were finally rewarded with their first points in an away draw against Leeds Beckett. The club is super proud of the 1s for their resilience shown this semester and is impressed by their play against the best Football Universities in the UK containing some players of incredible talent with international caps. We wish them all the best as they turn over a new leaf in the new year, ready to go again!

Meanwhile, the 1s started their defence of the Scottish Cup. They played Glasgow 2s whom they beat 10-0. It was great to see so many girls down celebrating with them on this cold Monday night and we can’t wait to see them continue their cup run success! <3
