Cliff Barraclough

Cliff is in his second year coaching with EUWAFC and is Assistant 1st team coach: he is a SFA C-Licenced coach and currently undergoing the UEFA B football coaching qualification.

He played semi-professional football for over a decade at Spartans in the East of Scotland League and learned from many excellent coaches whilst there. Since retiring from playing, he has spent the last decade coaching in the womens game including the last 2 years as lead coach with Boroughmuir Thistle Women U19 National Performance Team. This has included coaching and mentoring many Scottish youth international players.
Cliff’s Football Coaching Philosophy is simple:
Players need to enjoy playing and training in a happy environment that’s conducive to learning. The players need to know they are valued as people and that they will always be treated with respect. The sessions should be ready to go on the players arrival and flow quickly from one activity to another.  He believe that players should touch the ball as much as possible and drills should feel like games as much as possible with a competitive edge. Cliff assists Mike with 1st team training and enjoys chewing over tactical dilemmas with him on match days!
