3s WIN League and Promotion!!

Second game in 48 hours for the 3s and its a tough one versus League RIVALS Glasgow 2s at Peffermill. 5 pm kick off.

Squad: Annie, Bel, Briony, Cat, Dayna (GK again!), Fiona, Helena, Imme, Kara, Lucy, Meghan JA, Molly McG, Molly S (C), Romily, Steph.

Peffermill was ready with an amazing amount of support from visiting parents, our other teams down and alumni!

Tired legs as the game started with Glasgow firing an early warning sign just over the goal and a save by Dayna. 17 minutes in and Glasgow were rewarded with a goal :( The 3s refused to give up and kept fighting. Some great defense by Dayna and Kara. Likewise, at the other end of the pitch, we were working hard with great dribbling by Steph to Molly McGregor and Fiona with a close goal. Half Time a tired Edinburgh trail 1-0 to Glasgow.

A great team talk by Laura, Val and Mike resets the girls. They come back on and Striker sensation Molly Simmons gets a stunning goal to equal the score. Game on! Straight after the ball ends up at our end with Dayna keeping us in the game. Tension high with both teams fighting for a goal. With 10 minutes left Annie comes on and it only takes her 2 minutes to become again the hero of the day! 2-1 to Edinburgh !!! A very tense last 5 minutes with Glasgow countering right until the whistle is blown, but they are not able to get through the whole Edinburgh team defense. Amazing work by the girls and POTM Imme on the wing!

The 3s have won the Scottish 3A league and gained promotion to Division 2 which makes them the first Third Team in Scotland to be in that Division and play against other universities first teams! An amazing squad performance throughout the year and a huge achievement for EUWAFC!
