1s draw 3-3 away from home

After a tough start to the season, Edinburgh travelled to Leeds Beckett hoping to make their mark in the Northern premier league. It was a slow start from Edinburgh- a few missed opportunities and defensive errors meant they found themselves 2-0 down at half time to a switched on and clinical Leeds Beckett side. However, after 5 minutes in to the second half, Jennifer Brown opened the scoring for Edinburgh with a nifty finish from a through ball played by Rebekah Higgins. The home side bounced back quickly, adding to their tally just a minute later, leaving the scoreline 3-1 and Edinburgh with a lot of work to do. Edinburgh continued to battle hard and five minutes later broke through once more to make it 3-2 with a top corner long range finish from Rebekah Higgins. Soon after followed a brilliant effort from distance by Juliette Kelly, equalling the scoreline 3-3 deservedly for a resilient Edinburgh side. Intensity was high as both teams stepped up their game, but a fiery final 30 minutes filled with opportunities for both Edinburgh and Leeds Beckett couldn’t separate the two teams on this occasion as it finished 3-3. This means that the 1s gain their first point on the table in the BUCS Northern Premier League!

POTM - Rebekah Higgins

Edinburgh make the long trip to Loughborough next Wednesday where they will be looking to improve on the last time the two sides met in the first game of season.
