Narrow Loss at Home for the 1s

Squad: Sontag-Hanman (GK), Gray, Bosman, Kim (C), Dryden, Kelly, Coppel, Higgins, Williams, McIntosh, Brown, Macdonald, Alexander, Duverger, McCulloch.

Wednesday 16/10/19 saw the 1s take on Stirling 1s in their 3rd game of the season. A 5pm kick off meant there was a big support out at Peffermill for the 1st team. Edinburgh started strong against a good Stirling team. The defence kept Stirling from causing any real danger in front of goal, and this allowed Edinburgh to push up the pitch. The game was very even with no real chances coming from either side. The deadlock was broken late in the first half when Stirling scored from a fantastic long range strike. Half-time finished 1-0 to Stirling 1s.

In the second half Edinburgh set out to be mote attacking to try get back in the game. Good chances for Edinburgh came from the wide areas. Kirstie McIntosh was having particular joy down the right wing causing problems for the Stirling defence. Some great saves for Edinburgh keeper Kelli Sontag-Hanman made sure that Edinburgh were still in the game. Edinburgh’s chances came from Jen Brown and Kayla Duverger but the Stirling keeper was equal to their efforts. After a great push from Edinburgh, it unfortunately wasn’t enough as the game finished 1–0 to Stirling 1s.

Player of the match went to Cecilia Bosman for the second week running for her fantastic effort in the back line!
