2nd Team Come-back to Win at Home
This BUCS Wednesday saw our 2s win at home 4-2 against RGU. The first goal of the match came 26 mins into the first half by super striker Kirsty Wilson (her 1st ever goal for EUWAFC) with a pass back by RGU which allowed Wilson to confidently slot it in past the keeper. However, the 2s dropped their tempo after the first goal which allowed for a very physical RGU to score 2 goals in the space of a few minutes right before the end of the first half. A stern but motivational ‘reality check’ half-time huddle discussion was enough to get our 2s back into the game, and it was 2 mins into the second half when capitano Jenna McDonald scored from a well-placed corner kick. Soon after, Wilson strikes again and scores the third goal, allowing our 2s to take the lead, keeping the intensity high and winning most physical battles against RGU. The final goal of the match came from a fantastic cross into the box by ‘2s original’ Lily Chubb, and Eva Steele managing to slot it home despite being sandwiched by RGU defenders. Overall, a superb comeback, displaying the grit and determination which characterises EUWAFC 2nd team.
