2s Get Season Underway in Aberdeen
Cold and windy conditions up in Aberdeen for the 2nd team’s first BUCS match of the season against newly promoted Aberdeen University. The first 20 mins of the game saw some significant chances at a goal for our 2s with an offside goal by Rebecca Gray and a dangerous free kick into Aberdeen’s penalty box by Rachel Thomson. Aberdeen was nonetheless a strong opposition and the first half saw them score 3 goals. Half-time talk by coach Derek Nelson gave our 2s a boost of confidence resulting in the first 20 mins of the second half being evenly matched between the two teams and some great football being played. Despite this, Aberdeen managed to score another 3 goals, with performance being hindered by one of our players being sent off, bringing our side down to 10. All in all, however, a lot to learn from this loss and heads up onto next Wednesday where our 2s go head to head at Peffermill against our 1st team!
