Match Report: 2nd Team Make Division 1 History

Wednesday the 28th of September goes down in history now as the first time a 2nd team has played in the top flight of BUCS Scottish Women's Football leagues. With a very tough run of fixtures to start them off in the league the 2s faced a strong Stirling 1st team who only narrowly missed out on the title last year. Edinburgh didn't have the best of starts conceding only a minute or two into the game, then an own goal and a few other unfortunate mistakes meant the score was 0-5 to Stirling at half time. Edinburgh did have one good chance from a corner in the first half however, where Amy Gilroy only narrowly headed wide into the side netting from close range. The second half saw a couple of players come off due to injury but Edinburgh picked up their game to compensate and battled hard until the final whistle. The game finished 0-10 to Stirling however the girls showed a good determination to work hard for each other and continually show a strong willingness to improve which are qualities that will stand them in good stead for what is set to be their toughest season yet. Edinburgh's Man of the Match went to Hannah Michie who played in goals and remained positive the entire game despite the score line.
