Edinburgh 1s were keen to maintain a winning streak with an away day visit to Abertay. The first 30 minutes were tight, although Edinburgh pressed high to keep the ball in Abertay’s half they were unable to break down a strong line of defence. Early chances came from Guthrie and King as well as a penalty awarded for a foul on Mcleod which narrowly hit in the post and went wide. Edinburgh looked dangerous from corners but eventually it took a well worked phase and great piece of skill from Durand-Waston to lead a ball to Mcleod’s feet in the box which she then comfortably slotted home to make it 1-0. Abertay held a good line and looked to hit Edinburgh on the counter down the right side but a succession of well-timed headers and interceptions from Kim and Marshall quickly turned the ball over to put the Edinburgh back in possession.

Half Time: 1-0

It didn’t take Edinburgh long into the second half to double the scoreline, a drilled cross from Guthrie on the left into the path of King awaiting in the middle for a simple tap in- 2-0. Substitution: OFF- Marshall ON- Wilson. The game settled again and Abertay had a few good chances, one of which sparked an excellent 1v1 save from Currie to deny the striker. Minutes later and the other end the Mcleod pounces on a through ball and buries it in the bottom left hand corner to make it 3-0. Substitution: OFF- McConnell ON- Jakubec. Changes for both teams as the final 15 minutes approach and it was soon after this that Boeckh snatches the ball from the Abertay midfield and makes a charging run into the box and calmly puts it past the keeper. Substituion: OFF- King ON- Steele. Steele made a good impression coming on, hitting the crossbar with a header from a difficult angle. With two minutes to go, Mcleod completes her hattrick in a similar fashion to her other goals, latching onto a through ball hitting a left foot strike into the bottom corner. A solid team performance led to a well- deserved victory and plenty of positives to take from the game going forward.
