2nd Team Force Cup Game to Extra Time

After spending the morning on the sunny docks of Liverpool, the 2s kicked the table tennis players out the hall and warmed up for their much anticipated match against Liverpool University. We started strong with Hannah scored the first goal to bring the score to 1-0 to Edinburgh. A counterattack from Liverpool leads to claiming a goal to make it 1-1. Amy makes some great runs up the wings resulting in some threatening shots, testing out Liverpool’s goalie. A couple of great through balls lead to goals from Eva and Linda to bring The score to 3-1 to Edinburgh. After a deflection into our goal, the score stands at 3-2 to Edinburgh at half time. Liverpool manage a couple of quick balls and break into the lead with a score of 4-3. Edinburgh rally and bring it back with a goal from Hannah, making it 4-4 at full time. Although Edinburgh begins the 20 minutes of extra time positively, Liverpool slips a quick 3 goals into the back of the net so the score sits at 7-4 half way through extra time. With 10 minutes to go, Katie scores off a great ball from Bailey to bring the score to 7-5. A promising shot from Naomi forces the goalie to punt the goal out for a corner. In the last few minutes, Liverpool manage to slot another goal in to bring the final score to 8-5. Edinburgh battled hard through all 60 minutes of play and man of the match was awarded to Kat Grant unanimously for her plentiful daring saves that kept the score line as tight as it was.
